IC Rankings - Week 8

A bit earlier this week, here are the IC Rankings. Once again, IC stands for Initial Condition, a differential equations term, that refers to the starting position and affects the solution. They start in reverse order before Week 1 and use similar patterns to the human rankings, looking only at the most recent week's ranking and performance with teams staying pat unless they lose and getting major boosts for beating ranked teams. Unranked teams in the human polls are typically treated equally.

This week, #1 Northwestern lost to #9 Michigan State at home. This bumps Northwestern from the top spot and moves Michigan State up to #5. #3 Vanderbilt also lost at Mississippi State. The beneficiary here is #2 Tulsa who moves into the top spot. Texas' win over Oklahoma boosts them up to second as Alabama slides into third. Missouri and Oklahoma are the only teams to fall out of the rankings with Boise State and Florida taking their spots.
