Freddy Garcia has signed with the Tigers to a minor league deal. This has been long rumored, and appears to be risk free. A minor league deal, the only risk comes if Garcia gets playing time he doesn't deserve. This goes right in line with getting guys on the rebound, meaning this deal may pay off next season if he recovers fully at that point. My crazy idea would be to break him in down in the bullpen until his endurance is built up.
ESPNews says Gary Sheffield was placed on waivers. Big deal. Everybody is placed on waivers in August.
